The Medical Assiting student will research a region of the country, determine natural disaster risks, then develop an evacuation plan for a medical clinic.

Teacher Introduction

Here is a way to really have fun with your students while training them in their role of emergency preparedness for the medical office. You can provide for group collaboration and implement the use of technology. The students will work together to explore an unknown region for possible disaster risks. They will investigate different disaster response agencies at their web sites. They will craft an evacuation plan based on a given floor plan and building site. The students will build a presentation suitable to deliver to a medical office staff. You will learn along with the students as you facilitate the processes in this activity. It is also designed for your interpretation and you are welcome to enhance any portion of it to better serve your students. Enjoy!!
