Students will explore and describe the major pre-Columbian settlements: location, geography, climate, lifestyle, customs, traditions, and forms of government.
Introduction
As you have read in your social studies text, no other event affected the Native American People more than the arrival of Europeans. For thousands of years, native tribes lived in communities, which were strongly rooted in tradition. As European settlers came to America, the lives of Native Americans changed forever.
The President and Congress have recognized the importance of the Native American history prior to the arrival of the Europeans. Together they are considering legislation which would approve giving 100 GRAND for the expansion of the National Museum of the American Indian and resource center in Washington D.C.. However due to the limited space only two tribes will be selected to be on permanent display. We are fortunate that you are part of a team of specialists in early Native American culture. As an expert you will uncover who these Native Americans were before their lives were disrupted and changed forever. Remember the winning presentation could receive a big reward.
