Task

Fractions can be tricky for any student. Fraction word problems are even more challenging.

First we will review our understanding of fractions together.  Then, you will walk through the steps to successfully solve fraction word problems. Then you will be asked to complete fraction word problems on your own.  After you become an expert at solving fraction word problems, you will create your own fraction word problem!  remember to use these tips as you solve each one:                                                          

  • Understand the problem.                            
  • Read the problem.
  • Underline or highlight the question.
  • Circle any important words.
  • Draw the problem.
  • Use labels and use colors, if possible.
