Process

The first step for you is to pick your partner.  You are both responsible for all the work, if your partner is absent for the day of the presentation you will have to present on your own.  Make sure that you can trust this partner; you are responsible for your grade.  If you wish to work on your own, you may.

The second step is for you to choose your philosopher and complete the questions on the worksheet, (front and back).

FOR ALL STUDENTS: History News Network http://hnn.us/roundup/63.html#74774  You are to view this video by Clayborne Carson and relate the ideas of the Enlightenment period to what Carson claims we have accomplished by electing President Obama.

You can also find information in our textbook, World History: Modern Times in page 181 and pages 184-189.

Further web and text resources will be obtained during the library time you spend when researching for your research paper in your English class, the above though, is sufficient for your PowerPoint presentation.

The third step is to organize your information into a PowerPoint presentation.  You must have at least six slides.

Make sure that you constantly refer to the rubric guidelines, located under the evaluation link, to ensure your success in this project.

1)      Create five questions that the students will copy at the beginning of the presentation and that they will be able to answer as they listen to you present.  Make sure that your questions are higher level thinking.

2)      The title page and reference page at the end of the PowerPoint do not count as part of your six slides.

3)      Make sure you have at least on illustration, cited.

4)      Make sure you have at least one quote from a reliable written source, cited.

5)      Make sure you address as many of the history themes as possible.

Please remember that the people sitting in the back need to be able to read your slides.

You will have one class period to work on the PowerPoint, after that, it is up to you and your partner to complete it for homework.
