Process
1. Go to To Get You Started and identify what is energy conservation and discuss among your group what it is, how we use it, and why it is important.
2. Go to Our Environment and determine what the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) determines as problems and solutions in our environment. Determine if this site is factual or opinion. As a group decide if the information is accurate. Use other websites to compare information.
3. Watch the videos in Research Resources and identify problem areas within homes.
4. Discuss in your group and identify ways you conserve energy at home and areas you can easily work on.
5. Create a checklist that can be printed and used in a home to identify ways families are conserving energy. Consider recycling, light bulbs, energy use, water use, etc.
6. Create a brochure that links your checklist, links locations for recycling (Earth 911), and discusses the pros and cons of energy conservation.
