Process

Steps for creating the exhibit:

Starting Off...
1.  Choose your groups of 3.
      -Pick people you can work well with!
2.  Draw for civilization.

      -Mesopotamia   -Egypt    -India    -China    -Greece     - Rome    

               

 
3.  Pick your INDIVIDUAL topic!
      -Must be about a part of the civilization.

      -Ideas: Religion, Geography, Inventions, Wars, etc.

      -Pick a topic that is interesting to you!

      -Look through your Social Studies Notebook or textbook for ideas.
 
     

 

 

Research

4.  You will be researching your topic using your Research Folder.  Keep all information for your topic in your folder.  Don't forget to write down source information!  For your works cited page use the sample sheet from your English teacher. 

 

5.  Bring your Research Folder to Social Studies and English daily!

6. Follow Research Rules: 
      *  DO NOT copy directly from source
      *  Write facts in own words
      *  Remember a good source has least 4-6 good facts
      *  Facts should be in short one to two sentences not paragraphs
      *  You must have at least 4 Sources: 

  •  1 Book
  •  1 Internet Source (at least)
  •  1 On-line encyclopedia 
  •  1 Choice            

      *  DO NOT USE WIKIPEDIA

7.  You are writing on your individual topic.

The body of the paper should be about 3 different parts of that topic. 
        
Example:   
                        Topic: Black Death
                        Paragraph 1:  Causes of the Black Death
                        Paragraph 2:  Symptoms of the Black Death
                        Paragraph 3:  Effects of the Black Death on Europe

Social Studies Poster (Exhibit)


8.  Bring your research folder and paper to social studies.  You will be designing and creating your civilization exhibit. 

You must include:

Civilization Title
*make it stand out*

Individual Titles

3 "Blurbs" of Information
(hint: this should be from your 3 body paragraphs of your research paper) 

Individual Picture- draw
*Must relate to your researched topic
and be in color 

Optional:  Map of Civilization 
Maybe printed or drawn. 

Optional:  Civilization Timeline 

Optional:  10 Facts about Civilization 

Optional: Additional pictures from
Internet or Clip Art 

Use a variety of color to make
words and pictures stand out! 

BE NEAT!!

BE CREATIVE!! 

 

Exhibit Presentation
9.  You and your group will need to do a 5 - 10 minute presentation on your exhibit. Everyone in your group must be part of the presentation.  You need to present the information, NOT just read it from your board.
      
      *Practice, Practice, Practice your presentation.  
      *Be creative with your presentation, do an interview, talk show, etc.
      *Be Prepared!
