This problem-based project provides students with an opportunity to travel to a distant part of the United States. Students will explore the regions animals, climate, and a major attraction. Students will also calculate some of the costs of a vacation.

Teacher Introduction

This webquest was designed because I recently found out that the Social Studies curriculum at my school changed.  I have never taught the regions of the United States. Rather than using the boring  textbook, I decided to allow students to learn about America's geography through this webquest.  The links to this project offer maps of America's regions, a climate website listed by state, and great travel ideas. The students will also realize that vacations are not cheap.  I believe the kids will find this activity interesting and fun.  Maybe it will encourage them to start saving money so they can explore the vast lands of America.
