Evaluating Reconstruction through Jim Crow primary sources
Teacher Process
- Explore the Library of Congress links before presenting this webquest to students. Some of the links do not go directly to the sources; most have a 'View this item' link or can be enlarged in some way.
- Make sure students understand what primary sources are. This is a helpful link
- Go over the following vocabulary words: disfranchise, mistrel show
- Go through the Introduction, Task, Process and Evaluation with the students. (note: on the last task, 'Near what content would you place this source?' is asking students to think about where in the text this source should be placed)
- Collect both the Primary Source Analysis and the Proposal to Senior Editor forms.
- Decide how many points you want the Primary Source Analysis and the Proposal to Senior Editor forms to be worth.
