Teacher Process

Before starting this WebQuest, you, the teacher, will instruct the students to read the entire length of the "To Kill a Mockingbird."  This will take longer than a day, therefore you will need to designate one to two weeks for the students to finish the novel.

Students will need to understand the Literary Terms character, setting, plot, conflict, climax, resolution, and theme.  Students will need to apply these terms to their alternate ending when writing the script.

This WebQuest designates students to seperate into groups, designate a leader and a writer, and brainstorm an alternate ending for the novel.  This part of the task should take no longer than 20 minutes.  After they decide on an ending they all agree upon, the WebQuest instructs them to begin writing a rough draft of a script they will be using for their play.  This part of the task should take the rest of the class period.

If the students are unable to finish the script by the end of the period, they have been asked to do it for homework for the following day.  The instructor needs to approve of the script before the students are able to use it for their presentation.  A final draft of the script is asked to be turned in on the day of presentation.  A rubric is also asked to be turned in for each individual of the group.

When presenting, the groups must be able to recite their lines without help from the script.  The students are also asked to provide their own costumes and props for the play.

Considering the length of the presentations, the instructor needs to provide atleast 3 days of class time for all the groups to present.
