In this WebQuest, students are asked to read the novel "To Kill a Mockingbird," and create an alternate ending for the story. They are also asked to write and perform a play depicting their alternate ending.

Teacher Introduction

Through this WebQuest, students will be asked to  create an alternate ending to the novel, "To Kill a Mockingbird."  Prior to asking them to do this task the students must have read the book entirely.

In order to complete this task, the WebQuest directs the students to form 6 groups of 5.  The student groups will then designate a reader and a writer for the group.  They are then instructed to brainstorm ideas that could possibly pose an alternate ending.  Once they have chosen and ending they all agree upon, they are instructed to write a script for a play they will perform in front of the class.  The play is asked to be atleast 15 minutes in length, but no longer than 20.  The students are also asked to provide their own props and costumes.

A rubric will be used to grade this assignment.  The rubric is available on the WebQuest for students to look at and refer to when they are planning their play.
