Process
Prior to completing this activity, you and your group must have read "To Kill a Mockingbird" entirely. Also, before starting this lesson, you will need to understand the Literary Terms character, setting, plot, conflict, climax, resolution, and theme. You will need to understand these terms in order to write an effective alternate ending. You will also need to understand what makes a play a play.
Here are some links that will provide you with any information you may need to complete this project.

To begin the process of writing your alternate ending, your group must brainstorm a few ideas.

- You will seperate yourselves into 6 groups of four people.
- You will then assign one person to be the leader of the group, and one person to be the writer of the group. All members of the group will be doing equal amounts of work, but they will be given different responsibilties.
- Have each member of the group brainstorm a few ideas for an alternate ending, using the link given.
- Once each member of the group has thought of a couple ideas, compare them and decide on one. Make sure you have one or two back up ideas in case your orginal idea does not work.
- Begin to write a script of your alternate ending. Make sure that each group member is involved in this process, and not just the writer. Each member must have an equal amount of input in this process.
- If the script is not finished in class, your group must finish it for homeowork for the following day.
- After the script is approved, you must write a final draft with any corrections that I may have made. Make sure the script allows for atleast 15 minutes of acting time, but no longer than 20.
- Once the script is approved, you will have time in class to memorize the lines and any acion that may be happening throughout the play. Make sure that you will be able to acquire any costumes or props that your group will need.
- If your group is not able to memorize the lines with the class time provided, make sure they are memorized prior to the presentation of your play.
The last phase of this activity will be the presentation of your alternate ending. On the day of your presentation, make sure you bring a copy of your script, any costumes you will be using, and also any props that you will need.
