This piece will house all of your work and writing samples. I recommend getting a 3-ring binder and plastic pocket protectors so you can protect your paper in an organized fashion. Print out the Fairy Tale Portfolio pages and respond to the questions and writing prompts. You are encouraged to complete many of the activities seperately on Microsoft Word or PowerPoint.

3 ⇒ You have just read several original fairy tales. But, do you know what a fractured fairy tale is? Many modern authors and movie maker are making a lot of money creating fractured fairy tales! Find out what a fractured fairy tale is here.
Your next assignment is to read five fractured fairy tale versions. Keep in mind, we want to compare and contrast these stories. Go back and review the original stories of Frog Prince, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Cap, The Princess and the Pea, and the True Story of the Three Little Pigs. Go to the Fractured Fairy Tale Stories Online site to read the other version of each. The first story is a fractured version of Frog Prince. Click "Continue fairy tale" to start the story and read on. Click "Get Started" and choose one of the books to read three other fractured tales. Click "Choose a different fairy tale" to select another one. Now reread the original Three Little Pigs. Compare and contrast the original version to this fractured version.
Choose the original fairy tale you would like to study. The fairy tale you are going to be studying is __________________________________. Read and annalyze three fracturted versions from the school or classroom library. Devolp a Venn Diagram with three circles to compare and contrast your thought. Write a comparative, typed essay using four fairy tale characteristics. You must mention the characteristic from each story.
4 ⇒ You are now ready to begin writing your own version of a fractured fairy tale. Remember the characteristics of a fairy tale and view the fractured fairy tale story rubric so you include everything that is needed in your story. Before you start, visit the suggestion for writing a fractured fairy tale site. Your story must be typed either in Microsoft Word or PowerPoint. It may have pictures to support your story. You can also hand draw pictures to add to your story.

Remember to include all the fairy tale elements needed for your individual fractured fairy tale you already wrote. The reader's theater script must be arraged in Acts / Scene format. Be sure to create the cast list of characters at the beginning. You need to have at least one narrator. Don't forget (stage directions) written in parenthesis and props as well. The following website gives tips to help you write reader's theater scripts.
