Teacher Process
*This lesson takes approximately three days to complete and approximately 3 hours.
Day 1 (90 minutes): Introduce what a Webquest is to the students and give them a tutorial of "The 7 Continents" Webquest. Split students into 7 teams of 2-3 people and assign them each a different continent. Go to a computer lab where every student will have access to both a computer and internet. Allow students to complete the 10 questions together and gather as many pictures, diagrams, and interesting facts about their continents as they can.
Day 2: (60 minutes) This day will take place in the regular classroom. Have the team members collaborate and share the information they have found out about their continent. Together they will create a two page report (which will later be their two pages in the Class Continent Book). The two pages should include interesting facts, pictures, and diagrams.
Day 3: (30 minutes) This day will again take place in the regular classroom. Each team will take turns sharing their pictures and orally reports with their classmates. The students will be allowed to ask each team questions after they finish giving their report. As a teacher, you too may want to ask the children questions to check for understanding. Once all students have presented their work, collect it, grade it, and create/bind the book for the students. Each student will have a chance to bring the book home if he/she wishes to.
