Students will plan a 1 week trip trip for 4 (2 adults and 2 children)to Walt Disney World. They will need to estimate some prices in order to create a budget.

Teacher Introduction

This WebQuest is designed to help studens become more comfortablewith using math in everyday life. They will become famaliar with creating budgets using estimation. So often in a math classroom students are asking the teacher "when will we ever use this". This gives them the opportunity to apply their knowledge to something which could happen in the real world. Creating a budget and using estimation to stick to that budget is something which we use in our everyday life. By introducing the students to this in middle school it is more likely that they will be more comfortable with budgets. This way, when they are on their own it is less likely that they will struggle with this concept as many people do.
