The webquest is designed to handle issues of global warming. The idea is to create awareness of a key environmental issue. Students will not only learn about the issue, they will practice evaluative techniques when dealing with loads of information that the internet can provide. Hopefully, in doing this assignment, the information provided will inspire the students to do what they can to work towards sustainable living in their own lives.
Teacher Introduction
This WebQuest is not only designed to cover Social Studies standard three, It is also an effective tool for those teachers who value their physical environment. The students involved will be learning key curricular ideas, and at the same time they will be gaining an understanding of a global environmental issue affecting the world today. Students are required to evaluate, synthesize and analyze materials as they work towards their final product. It is my intention to raise awareness of this issue and hopefully inspire young minds to do what they can to help our Earth work towards sustainability. Furthermore, the analytical tools in action during this exercise are key to producing critical and evaluative student minds. So not just two birds with one stone, but a whole bunch of birds, figuratively speaking of course :)
