Task #1

To begin your journey through the world of immigration, you need to become familiar with the following words and their definitions:

immigrant

citizen

illegal alien

refugee

ancestor

migrant

deport

detain

visa

green card

Also, research the inscription written on the Statue of Liberty and decide its meaning.

Task #2

Immigration is a controversial topic in the United States today!  It is your job to research
BOTH sides of this issue through the websites provided and track your information on a Venn Diagram. Identify strong and weak points of each side.  Ask yourself these questions as you research this topic. 

         Is the source credible?

         Is this source unbiased?

         Is this source showing respect for people with varying opinions?

Partner A: will research the side of pro-immigration

Partner B: will research the side of anti-immigration

Task #3

Partners will share the information gathered concerning their assigned side of this issue.  Then, discussing key points decide,

which side of the border do you stand on?

Using a means of presentation such as:

* powerpoint

* podcast

* movie

*photography

form a production team and persuade the class members to join your cause and take a stand on this issue. Remember to use evidence to back up your opinion and use the assigned vocabulary in your presentation.

When presentations are complete, each team will present them to the class.
