Process

First:

To get started, your metereologist team will need to choose a WIND/PRESSURE EXPERT, a CLOUD EXPERT, a TEMPERATURE EXPERT, and a PRECIPITATION EXPERT. Each team will also need a DATA COLLECTOR to record and keep all data together.

Print the Daily Log Journal to track the weather in Salt Lake City every day for a week.

The Experts will be responsible for the following weather conditions:

WIND/PRESSURE EXPERT:  The speed and direction of the wind and high or low pressure.

CLOUD EXPERT:  How many clouds are in the sky and what type?

TEMPERATURE EXPERT:  The current temperature.

PRECIPITATION EXPERT:  How much precipitation (rain) have we received in the last 24 hours?

Use these sites to help you track or use the class weather tools.

Second:

Is the weather acting normal?  Each expert will need to research their specific weather condition to find the average in Salt Lake City for this time of year.

The following sites will help:

Each expert is responsible for getting their information to the DATA COLLECTOR.  The DATA COLLECTOR will record information on the Utah's Average Weather Sheet.

Finally:

Your meteorologist team must create your own weather forecast using a digital camera and iMovie.

To get started watch a real life weather forecast.  As you watch, think about what your forecast should look like and what you should include. Write down a few ideas.

Weather Forecast

Your team's forecast should be no longer than 4 minutes.

Things to include:

What does the weather look like today?

What should I wear?

Is today's weather normal for this time of year?

What is the weather prediction for tomorrow or the next day? How did you make that prediction?
