Task
This web-quest is all about real life persuasive writing and how we (and others in society) can use it to convince others that our opinions are correct!
Whether it's in winning a class election, talking your friends into seeing a scary movie, or convincing Mom and Dad that you absolutely must have that new cell phone, the persuasion skills that you learn through this web-quest will be invaluable to you in your day-to-day life.
During this web-quest lesson you will:
- Look around your own world to find persuasive messages in the media (think magazine ads, billboards, web-ads and TV commercials).
- Engage in a role-playing activity with a classmate.
- Search for, read, and evaluate op-ed columns on the web. You pick the topic; you pick the point of view; you pick the articles you want to read!
-
Choose an Op-ed article with which you disagree and write a response article defending an opposing position.
