In this lesson, students are asked to compare today's common fairy tales with the original versions written by the Brothers Grimm. After researching different fairy tales, students in groups of four will create their own original and present day fairy tales encompassing what they had researched.
Teacher Introduction
What is your favorite fairy tale? Is it Cinderella? Snow White? What if I told you the version you know isn't the original? Today we are going to being researching the original versions of your favorite fairy tales, written by the Brothers Grimm.
This WebQuest should be completed in about a week working 40 to 45 minutes a day.
** Students will be questioning on their own and will be very excited to start the lesson. Explain in more detail to them who the Brother's Grimm are. When did they live? What influence did they have on people? These questions should be discussed in class before you begin the WebQuest. For example, if you're starting this WebQuest on a Monday, maybe bring up the Brother's Grimm on the Friday before to let them think about the future topic.
On the sources page, there are many biography links listed about the Brother's Grimm.
