Process
In this WebQuest, you will be in groups of four.
Activity 1:
You and your group members will be given 30 minutes to create your own fairy tale. Consider what we've learned already! Think about parts of a story; characters, plot, climax, etc.
** Print off each check point and bring them to me to be initialed.
Activity 2:
Now that you've had some practice with creating current day fairy tales, now you're going to INDIVIDUALLY research one of the four fairy tales listed below.
- SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS

- RAPUNZEL

- HANSEL AND GRETEL

- RUMPELSTILTSKIN

-
Using a computer or books from the library, read multiple NEW versions of your story. Take notes. The sources above will help!
- Now, write a short paragraph about which new version is your favorite and why.
Activity 3:
-
Meet with your other SAME FAIRY TALE group members. (All Snow Whites sit together, etc)
-
With this group, I will give you the story written by The Brother's Grimm.
-
Read the original version out loud with your group.
-
Now, create a T-Chart Poster similar to the one below. For today's version, use some of the key points of your written paragraph from activity 2.
-
BROTHER'S GRIMM
SAME
TODAY'S
VERSION
- We will present these T-Chart Posters to the class!
Activity 4:
- Get back into your original groups where you created your own fairy tale.
- In these groups, I want you to look back at your own fairy tale and consider what we learned from The Brother's Grimm. Discuss and write down the questions below.
- What was different about the versions written by The Brother's Grimm?
- Were they happier? Or more depressing?
- Who was the hero?
- Did the hero prevail? Or survive?
-
You will now re-write your fairy tale to the standards of The Brother's Grimm. (Make it less fluffy) You have 30 minutes to write the story.
Activity 5:
- Using your new, Bother's Grimm version of your fairy tale, you will act out your tale to the class. You will have 20 minutes to plan your play and we will be presenting them tomorrow. Although props are not necessary, you are more than welcome to bring in APPROPRIATE costumes and props to help your performance.
