Task
In this unit you will have an opportunity to learn more about the science, history, and the dynamics(math) of flight. These are the key concepts that the whole project addresses.
- Who are the key people in our community who depend on flight for their daily work?
- Who are the Wright Brothers, Amelia Earhart, and Bob Reeve just to name a few and why are they important?
- What are milestones in the history of flight?
- How does a plane fly?
- What do rate and time have to do with distance?
- What would the world be like today without flight?
- How did studying living things that fly help people learn to fly?
- How do you build the best paper airplane?
These questions will be answered by you and your team as you work to complete this WebQuest. You and your team are responsible for completing many tasks. Sometimes you will work alone and other times you will be required to work with a partner or a group. Your tasks will include:
identifying key vocabulary
creating a 5 slide presentation
interviewing a panel of individuals associated with aeronautics
creating a timeline of the important historical events surrounding flight
researching famous aviators
completing math problems related to flight
building paper airplanes to compete in a contest
