Process

You will begin by selecting a team in which you would consider a dynasty (I would suggest that you pick a team that has won at least two championships in a five year period).
You can start by looking up the page to your favorite team(you can find a section on the history of the team on their site):
Atlanta Hawks
Boston Celtics
Charlotte Bobcats
Chicago Bulls
Cleveland Cavaliers
Dallas Mavericks
Denver Nuggets
Detroit Pistons
Golden State Warriors
Houston Rockets
Indiana Pacers
LA Clippers
LA Lakers
Memphis Grizzlies
Miami Heat
Milwaukee Bucks
Minnesota Timberwolves
New Jersey Nets
New Orleans Hornets
New York Knicks
Oklahoma City Thunder
Orlando Magic
Philadelphia 76ers
Phoenix Suns
Portland Trailblazers
Sacramento Kings
San Antonio Spurs
Toronto Raptors
Utah Jazz
Washington Wizards
Or, you can find a list of the NBA champions from every year here: NBA Champions by Year.
Once you've chosen your dynasty, you're ready to collect and report data!

You've got your dynasty. Now you need to look at the numbers to see how this dynasty compares to others. Download your statistic worksheet here.

To fill out statistic worksheet:
There are 2 tables on the worksheet. The first is for data analysis of each year of the 5 year span. The second is the summation of the entire dynasty.
The following are the columns of the first table, and an example of the data that you should input:
Year - The year you are collecting data for. Sample data: 1991
Champions - Did the team win the championship that year? Sample data: Yes
# of wins - How many wins did the team have that year? Sample data: 62
Avg. # wins/playoff team - What was the average number of wins for each of the playoff teams that year? Sample data: 54
Avg. margin of victory - On average, by how many points did team win each of their games by? Sample data: 6
You will collect the data and fill in the chart for each of the 5 years of the dynasty, regardless of if they won a championship that year or not.
The following is the information for the 2nd table:
# of Championships - Out of the 5 years of their dynasty, how many championships did they win? Sample data: 3
Avg # of wins - What was the average number of wins that the team had during the 5 year span? Sample data: 62
Avg. # of wins/playoff team - On average, how many wins did each of the playoff teams have? Sample data: 58
Avg. margin of victory -
The average margin of victory over the 5 year period. Sample data: 5
The data from the 2nd table will be transferred to the statistics graph. From there, graphs will be created that compares each of the teams entered.

So now you have a dynasty and some data, but what does it all mean? How does it stack up against other dynasties? This is where you will find out. First, you need to download the statistics graph here
Once you have downloaded the statistics graph, you are going to copy the data from Table 2 on the statistic worksheet into its respective chart. Your dynasty, along with a bar representing the data, should appear on the graph. After each of the other groups in your class has filled in their data onto your charts, you will have visual comparison of your respective dynasty's accomplishments, and you can move forward with the debate over which dynasty was truly the greatest. Don't forget, you and your partner will also make a collage of your dynasty that contains various components of your project (statistics) as well as various pictures of the team during that time.
