Teacher Process
In order to complete this webquest, you must decide your purpose and whether or not your goals will be met when using this page. In order to ease your students into completing this project, you must supply them with instruction that provides the necessary vocabulary words that they will need in order to complete this project. Your students must also understand the present tense, the past tense, and how to make coherent sentences. As the teacher of the course, you must decide when to introduce this information to your students depending on their readiness. I would advise that you pre-assess them on their knowledge of basic vocabulary words that they will need for this project. From this diagnostic test, you will be to plan your instruction and decide where to place this unit.
To begin this webquest, you should give your students an overview of what they will be doing. Let them know that you will either be reviewing or introducing French-speaking countries. Make sure that they are able to use the different tenses and write coherently. Also, make sure that you have talked about information literacy (finding the right sources), how to use the internet and so on. They should also already know how to complete a bibliography.
For this webquest, I would recommend that you print out the different roles in separate color sheets of papers. Print out these sheets so that they know what the roles are, go over the webquest with them, and answer all questions. Depending on your student?s proficiency with the French language, they might have questions about the websites that they will be visiting. Make sure that you have reviewed the websites yourself and will be able to provide help with navigating these websites. After completing their specific role worksheets, they should check-in with you so that you can ensure they are getting the right information from these sources. You should also set up different stations where each group can work cooperatively to fill out their pre-brochure organizers. While students are working, you should ensure that they are staying on task and completing the requirements of the assignment. During the completion of their brochure you should provide your students with all the materials, they need, such as: a thin poster board, markers, glue, tape, etc...
Knowing your students abilities and personalities, you should set your own expectations of what level of proficiency your students demonstrate during this project. Also, depending on your students this webquest can be done in 3-4 days. This webquest should be an enjoyable and enlightening experience. Good Luck!
*You might want to have your students complete a reflection sheet on how the fufilled their completion roles and the overall feeling about this project.
