Teacher Process
This web curriculum takes at least two full weeks to complete. I allow children time in class and out of class to work on the projects.
- Copy the election journal for all learners from Candidates, Campaigns and Elections by Linda Scher.
- Pass out pages and show students how to put booklet together and staple. Look through the booklet together and explain that students will use online resources to complete each page.
- Show example of Campaign Scrapbook that you have created before hand. ( I use one from the 2004 election.) Use projector and laptop to go over curriculum web with students. Define and answer questions students have about each role and the qualifications needed.
- Put students into groups of three once you decide how you want them grouped. Have them decide who will take on each role.
- Give students plenty of time to browse all the online information for all the tasks that need to be completed.
- Make sure you have enough technology resources reserved for each class period that you will have the students working on the projects.
- Once scrapbooks are completed have an informal class discussion on what was learned. Let interested groups present their scrapbooks to the class.
- Once Election Journals are done have large group discussion about all the journal components.
- Administer Final Assessment
