Each member of the group needs to select the job that he/she will be responsible for carrying out during this assignment. These johs are:
Let's Get Started
-
Researcher: To gather information about the composer and organize it on index cards.
-
Reporter: You are responsible for interviewing the composer and gathering information to share with the researcher. You will also interview the composer "live" in front of the class.
-
Graphic Artist: Gather pictures from the internet of the composer or draw your interpretation of what the composer looks like.
-
Composer: You are going to pretend to be the composer and answer questions while being interviewed. Costumes, make-up etc.. are optional.
- Presenter: You will be responsible for taking the information on the index cards and organizing it into a diagram or poster of sort to display to the class. You will present the most relevant facts and information you have found out about the composer. Your presentation will last a minimum of 7 minutes and a max of 10 minutes.
3. You will need to ask at least ten of the questions during your live interview. Here are some examples to get you started:
4. Research your composer.
Use the following links to help you with your research. Be sure to write down the sites that you retrieve information from in order to create a resource page for your presentation.
Bach Mozart Beethoven Tchaikovsky Stravinsky
5. Use your research to create the live interview.
- The reporter should have note cards with questions that will be used during the interview.
- The composer should have note cards with the answers (information from the research) that will be used during the interview. Costumes and make-up is optional.
- The graphic artist should create props to use during the interview. This can be posters, pictures, displays, and/or costume articles, composer's music playing in the background.
- The researcher should create a resource page that includes all of the sites that were used during the research. This page along with the note cards will be turned in to the teacher.
- The presenter should decide what information is most important to present and practice speaking in front of your group or parents. The presenter should be a person who is comfortable speaking in front of their peers.
- Check to see how you will be graded to be sure that you have covered every area.
6. You're ready for your presentation!
Now that all of your hard work is finished, let's have a little fun by learning about other composers from around the world.
