Web Quest Title:  Cigarettes: To Smoke or Not to Smoke!

Grade Level: Grades 4 & 5

Content Area: Health, Technology, & Language Arts

Modifications:  (Scaling down or adjusting to ability level): Pair high and low ability level students to work together as statisticians, doctors or counselors.  Have all pairs collaborate to construct display board and plan and present project.

Timeline (How many days/weeks to complete – start & end date):  This webquest will run over a period of seven weeks, beginning with the KWL Activity. 

Groups will spend the first four weeks in research and writing and publishing their Issue Reports. 

The entire team (statisticians, doctors or counselors) will spend three weeks constructing their display board and preparing for their team presentation. (If students decide to present in PowerPoint this timeline will need to be extended.) 

Management (Grouping, computer rotation, time in lab, etc.): Students will work in teams of six.  They will have one hour in the lab each week and each team will have computer time in class each week.  Also, every Thursday, all day will be devoted to this project with the exception of math time.
