Teacher Process
Teachers,
Before you begin this WebQuest you may want to introduce the issue of tobacco use and its consequences. This WebQuest can be utilized over a short or long period of time, it depends on how much time you are able to devote to this issue.

First, allow the students to review the WebQuest on Tobacco Education.
Links are provided throughout the WebQuest for the students to research the questions in this WebQuest.
5.) www.lungusa.org
Each student should have plenty of time to thoroughly explore each of these very important websites. If there are not enough computers for each student, have them pair up.
Make sure they are taking notes for the questions that they need to answer.
Next, you will separate the students into groups of four or five (or whatever works in your classroom). Allow them to have an in depth conversation about the information they have learned about tobacco products. Have them compare their notes with each other. Have each group pick a leader to write a summary of their combined answers. (Make sure each person in their group gets a copy of their own group's summary.)
Allow the students a length of time to reflect about how they feel about tobacco use and its consequences, and then give them time to write their feelings in their journals.
This WebQuest is intended to help your students learn how to conduct research on various websites. Allow them enough time to thoroughly explore each link on the websites so they can find the answers to the questions in this WebQuest.
You may want to follow up with a classroom discussion to see if the students have any further questions that could be addressed by you or further research.
