This WebQuest is to educate children in fourth and fifth grades about the health concerns associated with tobacco use. The goal of this education is to ensure that children are well informed about the health risks so they may make an informed choice when confronted with the question of whether or not to use tobacco products.
Teacher Introduction
Teachers,
Tobacco use is a serious subject and has serious health consequences and should be part of health lessons. Because tobacco may cause so many different illnesses in people it is important to allow children to learn about tobacco use consequences and then be able to take the time necessary to reflect on this issue and what it means to them.
The tobacco companies target young people with their advertising schemes and as a result too many young people start smoking, become addicted and therefore continue to smoke into adulthood.
This WebQuest will help your students to see the health risks associated with tobacco use, and ways to say "No" to tobacco.
