This WebQuest was designed for students learning about the history, geography, government, and economy of the state of Georgia. As part of the Georgia Standards of Education, Eighth Grade students are required to acquire knowledge in those four areas. This WebQuest is also a helpful way for the teacher to engage the students.

Teacher Introduction

I created this webquest for a project in my EDIT2000 course as a freshman at the University of Georgia.  My Webquest is titled "Georgia on My Mind" and is directed towards an 8th grade Social Studies class.  The material in this project meets many of the Georgia Standards for Education for eighth graders.  This WebQuest will teach students to work together as a group and interact with their peers.  It also gives students the opportunity to learn about Georgia in a fun and creative way.

To complete this webquest, divide the students into groups of four people.  They decide as a group who will be in charge of each of the four tasks.  The fourth person writes the letter to the governor, but the group as a whole is required to collaborate and decide what information they want in the letter.  They will learn various facts about the history, government, economics, and geography of the state of Georgia.
