Conclusion
Now that you have journeyed through time, take a few minutes to reflect. How was life in Colonial times different from life today? How did who you were affect what your life was like? As you think about these things, begin to plan your diary. Which group will you represent in your diary: the Dutch or African-Americans? Your diary should relfect a deep understanding of life in Colonial times and should demonstrate an understanding of the roles and lives of the group you are representing.
This work should lay a solid foundation for you as we move forward in time in New York. We will meet other groups who came to New York, some who came for similar reasons, some for different. As we encounter these groups, of course, be mindful of what you have learned through this quest. Native Americans, the Dutch and African-Americans have all had a profound effect on New York well past the Colonial era. We will explore what happened as these groups encountered each other and how it affected life and society in New York.
