In the real world, no one will pay you a salary to complete worksheets, color maps, or take tests. Those are routine activities we do in geography class to teach you important thinking skills. We live in an information age and an increasingly global market place. While understanding the basic geography of the world is certainly important, employers today are looking for much more. They are interested in hiring people who have demonstrated the ability to work cooperatively with others, and to effectively gather and evaluate data in order to make the best decisions to solve problems or create new ventures. These are the skills that were used in this activity, and the ones we will continue to work on throughout the year.
