Teacher Process
Grade level: Designed for third grade, but can be adapted for second - fifth grade.
Background knowledge: Students should be familiar with the popular American tall tales of Johnny Appleseed, Paul Bunyan, Davy Crockett, and Pecos Bill. Students should also be familiar with the vocabulary and style of tall tales. Students should have prior beginner experience with WebQuests.
Time: Approximately six periods (40 minutes each)
Equipment: Computer for each student, crayons, scissors, transparent tape
- Alternate equipment: If there are not enough computers to accommodate each student, the "individual jobs" of Tall Traveller, Stretch Detector, Humor Hunter, and Memory Mapper can instead be "team jobs" of two learners, with each team working on two "team jobs."
