Revisit American tall tales to create trading cards that highlight the famous characters Paul Bunyan, Johnny Appleseed, Davy Crockett, and Pecos Bill.

Teacher Introduction

This lesson plan allows students to work both individually and collaboratively to analyze and share information about tall tale characters. By visiting the provided websites, the learners have a new way to re-introduce themselves to some favorite tall tale heroes. Learners work together to share the information in a creative way, in the form of a trading card. This plan was designed to be used in the media center with suggested collaboration with classroom teachers to blend research skills, language arts, social studies and technology.
