You and your team members are on the Star Trek Enterprise. Somehow, John Wooden has been taken back in time and is running for President of the United States. In order to get John back to the 21st Century you must become a campaign manager and make sure that John Wooden gets elected. In this time space anomaly Ben Franklin is your opponent.
You are forced to use the technology that is current for the Colonial Period. Create a four week plan for John including places to speak, travel, and speeches. Find three important people who will support him.
He must speak in three major cities, meet three major supporters. Describe these meetings including the setting, dialogue, travel arrangements including a dialogue with one commoner (stagecoach driver, waiter, farmer, teacher, sailor, etc)
You also must pick a running mate. In other words, choose a vice president who will become the real president when John is beamed up to the Enterprise
You may use 21st century technology to describe this including PowerPoint, web pages, outlines, drawings, flash programs (Firestarter) Hot Potatoes quiz maker.
Create a poster, or newspaper article supporting this person.
Finally, you must have John debate Ben Franklin. In this debate include a moderator, and newspaper reporters. Make sure that John wins this important debate. John can appeal to the values of the colonists, and can make up to three promises he will keep if elected. Make sure he answers the newspaper reporter’s questions including why he believes he should be president. Although no one at that time has ever heard of John Wooden, his charm and wisdom wins them over.
Include his Steps to Success and anything about his past or upbringing that would help him win.
After he wins and John is beamed up to the Enterprise, describe how John feels now that he is back in the 21st Century. Include what John missed the most and questions your team members have for him.
