This WebQuest is designed for students who are enrolled in high school or college Calculus.   Calculus is a college level course, and is primarily for those students who are seniors and are planning on attending college the following year.

The students should possess a solid understanding of the following skills:

• Area and volume formulas for basic geometric shapes, including, but not limited to right triangles, rectangles and rectangular prisms
• Basic differentiation techniques including the power rule, product rule, quotient rule, chain rule and implicit differentiation
• The Pythagorean Theorem
• The use of both the first an second derivatives to find extrema over a given interval

This WebQuest is designed to link together the concepts of curve sketching in Differential Calculus with practical problems that the students may encounter in their daily lives.  It is designed for students to work both individually and in groups of three.
