Teacher Process

This webquest will span over eight days. The time frame will be broken up as follows- 3 days to research simple machines and playgrounds, 1 day to compile information as a team, 1 day to conference with teacher and start creating playground models, 1 day to complete playground models, 1 day to prepare presentation, 1 day to give the presentation, and fill out a self evaluation form. The time frame may vary depending on your class.

The teacher will divide the class into teams of 4 students.  Each team member will research and define all the simple machines individually.  The team will then come together to share their findings and collaboratively create four pieces of playground equipment.

When placing students in teams, consider their strengths and weaknesses, and how the  team will benefit the most from what the members can contribute. Also, think about who will work well together.

The teacher will need to create the self-evaluation worksheet to give the students for completion after their presentation. The self-evaluation should include the student's role in creating the playground equipment, researching simple machines, and their role in the presentation. The teacher can also add an area for the student to share the knowledge they have gained from this project, and how their team functioned as a whole.
