Pre-conference: Simple machine information and playground equipment

Students did not have notes about their simple machine, not all group participants had an understanding of their simple machine. Plans for playground equipment did not include their simple machine

Students had notes from one source about their simple machine.Two out of four students understood how the simple machine worked.  Two out of four playground designs included their simple machine.Students had  notes on their simple machine from two sources.  Three out of four students understood how the simple machine worked.  Three out of four playground designs included their simple machine. Students had detailed notes with information from three or more sources on their simple machine.  All group members understood how the machine worked.  Students applied their new knowledge on simple machines to the design of all their playground equipment

Students made no eye contact with audience, spoke too softly, and made distracting movements.Students made eye contact with audience 25% of the time, spoke loud enough 25% of the time for audience to hear.Distracting movements were noted 50% of the time.Students made eye contact 50-75% of the time with the audience, spoke loud enough 50-75% of the time for audience to hear.  No distracting movements were used.  Students made eye contact 75% or more of the time, spoke loud enough for audience to hear 75% or more of the time.Used gestures when necessary

Students evaluation reflected their participation in the group with less than 50% accuracy and students participated in group less than 40% of the time.Students evaluation reflected their participation in the group with 50% accuracy and students participated 40-60% of the time.Students evaluation reflected their participation in the group with 75% accuracy and students participated 60-80% of the time. Students evaluation reflected their participation in the group with 100% accuracy and students participated 80%  of the time or more.
