Teacher Process

The process is very simple there are really only 2 processes and a wrap-up of the information the students have gathered.

Process 1

Students follow the link and determine the similarities and differences between animal rights activists, hunters, and animal welfare supporters.

Process 2

Students follow the link and read information that support both sides of the argument and answer basic questions to help them understand it in an organized manner.

Bringing it together

Students then answer the last two questions based on how they have already answered the previous questions.  This will help them form an opinion based on factual information.

For steps 1 and 2, the information comes straight from the text, so students that have trouble with this step may need help with the vocabulary, or are trying to skim the material instead of read it. Encourage students to read the questions before they read the text on the sites, then come back and answer them when they are finished reading.

If students find it difficult to choose an argument to support encourage them to make a t-chart to write positives and negatives of each argument.
