By using the internet to gain a grasp of historical events, students will then take that understanding and manipulate it to fit Zits point of view. The events will be altered by being told through this voice from a choice of mediums.
Teacher Introduction
The lesson comes from work on a novel unit for Sherman Alexie's Flight in my methods class at Stony Brook University. It allows for the students to be creative while critically analyzing history. It also calls for the students to grasp the voice and point of view of the protagonist of the novel and express through different mediums. And with hope, the work the students will do be interesting, and more compelling than traditional writing assignments.
