Step 1: Choose ONE of the quotes.
"I am interested in madness. I believe it is the biggest thing in the human race, and the most constant. How do you take away from man his madness without also taking away his identity?"-William Saroyan

Step 2: Rewrite the quote
Step 3: Explan the quote in your own words.
Step 4: Agree or Disagree with the quote.
Step 5: Identify which two pieces of literature you are going to use to support this quote. Specify the authors of each piece.

Tips for the Critical Lens
- Give a valid interpretation of the critical lens.
- When choosing the second piece of literature, think of what you have read from 9th grade until now. It can be a poem, play, novel or short story. To make it easy for yourself, choose one that BEST supports the quote.
- Avoid plot summary.
- Be specific but keep to your point.
- Study your worksheet on Literary terms that we filled out earlier in the school year.
- Organize your ideas in a unified and coherent matter
