This WebQuest is designed for students who are reviewing for the Virginia Standards of Learning Algebra I Test. It gives students the opportunity to create their own Algebra I Test. Students will review the Virginia Standards of Learning while comparing them to the standards of other states in the U.S by looking at sample test questions from other states, linking those questions to the Algebra Standards of Learning, and rewriting their own, (but similar), questions. At the end of the WebQuest, teachers will have a pile of questions to create a review lesson for their students.

Teacher Introduction

As teachers, the Virginia Standars of Learning is a huge part of your curriculum.  By the time the test date comes around, many of the students are tired of lectures, paper and pencil activities, and quizzes and tests.  However, that does not mean that appropriate assessment cannot take place in your classroom.

This WebQuest is designed for students who are ready to review for the Algebra I Standards of Learning Test.  The WebQuest offers a break from the traditional paper and pencil assessment, and makes students feel important and valuable to their own learning process.

This WebQuest turns the table by allowing students to create their own Algebra I test.  Throughout the WebQuest process, students will review the Algebra I Standards, view various sample test items, and use higher level thinking skills to write good multiple choice test questions.

As the teacher, you will be able use all of the test questions that your students created to assess what they have learned thoughout the year by creating a fun review lesson, such as a game!
