This WebQuest will give students the chance to explore the Aztec civilization by studying its location, the social structure, education & schooling practices, forms of artistic expression, religion & tradition practices, and the various technological advances they made in history. Students will take on the role of a museum curator and uncover the truths about this ancient civilization to share with the public.

Teacher Introduction

What Constitutes Greatness in a Civilization?

This lesson is designed to support student learning and inquiry throughout the course of a 15 day unit plan on the Aztecs. Students will use the scaffolding and support from the WebQuest to research the Internet for information about the Aztecs. Students will collaborate in groups to accomplish their final task. The research will be collected, combined, and discussed  to determine what parts they will need to create a museum display showcasing the "greatness" of the Aztec civilization.

Through this process, students will develop independent research skills, knowledge and practice using technology in various ways, depth of understanding, enhancement of content through visuals, and higher-level thinking skills. Students will be motivated and engaged to learn about history through this authentic process of information discovery.
