Process

You will work in a team of 4 to research, develop a survival plan, and construct a diorama of your biome.

1.  Each student is to specialize in one of the following areas and take notes to use in your survival plan (process #2).
*Meteorologist (climate and weather specialist) - responsible to find the temperature, precipitation, elevation, and other weather conditions specific to this biome
*Botanist (plant specialist) - responsible to identify the native plants and why they are adapted to this biome
*Zoologist (animal specialist) - responsible to identify the native animals and why they are adapted to this biome
*Shelter specialist- responsible to identify the materials available to build a shelter in this biome.

All with be responsible to research the sources of food and water for your biome.

Process Two

Based on your research, construct a survival plan with your group. Each specialist will be the expert and will share their findings for your survival plan. Make sure that you take into account the different seasons during your year of living in the outdoors. This plan will be a two page report, 12 font, and double-spaced.

Your survival plan needs to address:

A) a description of your biome (elevation,  precipitation, temperature, and surface terrain)

B) Common plants and animals that inhabit your biome. List animal and plant behavior and adaptations that allow them to survive in the environment. Show if there are any ideas for survival that you can take from the plants or the animals.

C)  Shelters, clothing, food and water supplies, that you will use throughout the year.

D) Make sure that you look at the evaluation rubric before turning in your work to make sure that you have covered everything.

Process Three

Your group will work together to construct a diorama of your biome.  Ensure that your diorama includes wildlife, vegetation, water source, shelters, a person with typical clothing, and any other information that you could make a display of.
