Teacher Process

The students will need to be split up into groups of three.  Within the group of three each student needs to be assigned one role (i.e. Southerner, Northerner, Slave).  The role means that each person will be looking at each event from a different perspective.  Each group will need to fill out a notes sheet.  After they have been divided into groups they will need to have access to computers.  

Research should take 45-60 minutes for each time period (before, during and after the war).  The writing may take 45 minutes each entry (depending on typing ability and writing ability).  

After the research and writing have been completed the students will need to know how to use Microsoft PowerPoint (or a similar program).  They need to copy and paste their writing documents into the PowerPoint using one slide for each entry.   They may organize the entries according to when (before, during or after) written or from perspective.
