Teacher Process

 You are the facilitator of the simulation.  Your responisbility is to make sure the students are following the simulation and have the necessary tables and pages (all found in the book).  If you do not have the book, you can create simulation yourself.  Be creative and come up with some scenarios that could happen on the voyage (disease, navigation errors, morale issues, mishaps, and supplies).  Develop a way for the groups to radmonly encounter the scenarios.

During the research portion, you are the facilitator of the learning.  You assist the groups in gathering information and providing the instruction on how to create a strong persuasive argument.

In grading the documentaries, you could ask another class to join you for the presentations and then take a poll of the guest class to see which group did the best in persuading the audience as to who discovered the Americas.
