Teacher Introduction

Oprah Winfrey often says that crimes and vicitms have faces and it's not until you put a face to a crime that it becomes a personal experience.  When you see and understand the face of the victim, you begin to understand that the victim was somebody with a life and interests, not just a number.  Although the lessons of tolerance are not part of our content standards, our children can benefit from the lessons of tolerance.

This webquest allows children to write an editorial piece, a biographical piece, and a historical desciptive piece.  They are to read and scan through primary sources on internet sites and articles, take notes, and compose their writings.  They are also required to sift and sort through primary source photographs.  Along with the above standards, they are required to creativley express an attribute of a person through the use of one or two-dimensional art (clay, diorama, drawing, watercolor, etc.).
