Students will work in a team of four as a panel of experts advising the board of directors of GreenTech, Inc. (a fictional energy company) whether or not to invest in biofuels for biogasoline.

Teacher Introduction

When the Michigan Grade Level Content Expectations came out for K-7 science, I began to work on this WebQuest as a way to help myself and other teachers fill in the gaps for the physical and life science topics that we did not have resources or materials to teach. The GLCEs and the Michigan Technology Standards this WebQuest addresses are listed on the standards page.

In addition, I wanted to use a simulation to build interest for students while they practiced cooperative learning skills, including teamwork, collaboration, and consensus building. The evaluation rubric reflects the goals of consensus building in a cooperative team effort.
