Conclusion
You have worked in groups, each contributing your part and learning from each other much like the first Americans helped each other and each did their part in their communities. You learned about the first true Americans; the Dine’, Muscogee, Tlingit, Lakota and Iroquois. They had a respect for the environment around them, living in harmony with it. Today you take the time to look back and reflect on their accomplishments, battling harsh weather, hunting their food and using natural resources for clothing and shelter. Maintaining the family unit and protecting communities was a priority. Today some of us lose sight of some of the basic goodness that nourishes our spirits due to the complexity of our world. You are from the “me generation” where many individuals search for happiness by satisfying their own needs before thinking of their family or community. It is my hope you will hold the first Americans close to your heart and appreciate them for all they were and all they accomplished.
