Process
Step 1:
Have you ever wondered where a butterfly comes from and how a butterfly can be impacted by human life? With a partner you will examine the life cycle of the butterfly. You and your partner will read about the stages of a butterfly (i.e. egg, caterpillar, chrysalis and butterfly). Each partner should pick two stages of the butterfly to research about that part of the life cycle. Here are some links below to help you get some information about your specific stages of the life cycle of the butterfly. Click on the links below to get information on the your stage. Make sure you print out and complete the butterfly worksheet to describe the stages to your partner that is attached in Microsoft Word.

Step 2:
In this section you and your partner will examine the different characteristics and features of butterflies. Click on the links below to view the different parts of a butterfly's body. Also, some links have pictures of different butterflies that may possibly be located outside in your backyard! Think with your partner about how butterflies might be impacted in your backyard by human life. After you and your partner are done viewing the different websites, print out and complete a butterfly anatomy worksheet on Microsoft Word that is on the parts of a butterfly.

Step 3:
In this step you and your partner are going to make a brochure for the Butterfly House that is opening in the Hershey Gardens on May 25. The brochure should include a title, a section describing the life cycle, and a section describing different parts of a butterfly. You and your partner may want to draw pictures representing your information. Also, you and your partner may decide to include different types of butterflies in your brochure. The brochure should contain a section about how you and your partner think human life can impact a butterfly.
