This WebQuest is designed for students to evaluate the differences in online news sources by exploring the overall layout of the websites and the writing of individual articles focusing on audience, author's purpose, and bias.
THIS IS A CHALLENGING TASK FOR YOU
BUT YOUR STUDENTS WILL USE COMBINE THEIR CRITICAL THINKING WITH THEIR CREATIVITY!
It is important that students begin to get a general idea that they cannot be fed information without a bit of criticism. This WebQuest is a beginning point for students. By using more complicated sources--cnn.com, MSNBC.com, and foxnews.com--combined with a creative project of writing with purpose and intended audience, students will be able to understand biases not only in media but in all forms of written information.
